Sleep is an important function for recharging and de-toxing the body – and for the mind in organizing, predicting and venting. You already know how important sleep is otherwise you wouldn't be concerned about not getting enough sleep. Not sleeping well becomes a pattern – almost a habit, that gets harder and harder to break the longer it goes on!
The most important thing to aim to do is to stop thinking about sleep. If you don't sleep well one night, forget about it. We all have bad nights every so often. Begin expecting to sleep. Say things like, "Won't it be nice when I am sleeping through the night again. I used to. It used to be easy". And so on.. You must strive to retrain your mind that sleep is what you want.
The Law of Attraction is clear; what the mind dwells on, it attracts. The most important step is to work on your thinking around the whole sleep issue.
