Happiness is not the absence of problems, it's the ability to deal with them with the least emotional and physiological fallout.
Its true that the behaviour and habits we don't want happen unconsciously and that ANYTHING that affects us emotionally will have some effect on the way we behave - in good ways and some not so good. Change can happen naturally - but when it doesn't happen and we want it to, what do we do?
Hypnosis, NLP & EFT are techniques that have worked for countless people. Hypnosis induces a version of a naturally occuring trance state where change CAN happen at an unconscious level - it is then up to the skill and experience of the therapist to make suggestions to effect that change. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) deals directly with psychological or meridian energy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a new and exciting mind technology that works with the way we represent our experiences in our mind.
Many people feel that sometimes they are behaving in a way that is not good for them - making the same mistakes........This is all happening unconsciously, so we need to get to the unconscious mind and suggest that it uses it's impressive resources to bring about the changes we want - and although it is a great ideal to be happy all of the time, happiness is only relative. We have downs so we can enjoy the ups more! Its about being who we want to be. Whatever comes our way, that's ok, we can handle it. The important thing is that we don't sabotage the good work by re-imprinting negative beliefs and behaviours again. This is where your therapist cames in.
Sometimes you need help to change your mind.... !.
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming and is a remarkably powerful new mind technology developed in the 1970s for people to model excellence and clear negative emotions. It is based on observations of how the unconscious mind codifies all our experiences using our senses and then processes that reality through language. It is about how we represent our subjective experiences. When we know how we represent them - we can change the impact they have on us. In the US it is often called Brief Therapy when used in conjunction with Ericksonian hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy is from the Greek word for sleep and basically uses induced trances to speak directly with the unconscious mind. Positive results across a range of issues can be achieved very easily without the use of drugs. It is safe & natural with no side effects. It is also an incredibly effective therapy with lasting results to help you take control of your life - fast! During hypnotic trance, which is like being absorbed in a book, film or song, we can bypass barriers to our inner thoughts and feelings, and act upon suggestions more powerfully than in a normal state. It is particularly effective in tackling health issues.
EFT stands for emotional freedom techniques and is a technique for releasing negative emotions by tapping on the meridians of energy we have in our bodies as in acupuncture. Sometimes called Meridian Therapy or Energy Psychology, it has produced the most amazing results with a range of issues from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to broken bones. It is also something you can do yourself. See www.emofree.com to learn more about EFT or you can look at this presskit for a summary. The newsletter is excellent and highly recommended. Also see Carol Look's website for an in-depth explanation of the benefits and application of EFT. Click here to vist Carol's site.
Positivity and weight loss programmes by practitioners such as Paul McKenna are a combination of Hypnotherapy and NLP (and some TFT - which is a cousin of EFT). Here is a bit more information about the mind for those who have an interest.
The Mind is an interesting place!
In this place resides the conscious mind, the unconscious mind and the higher conscious mind.
The conscious mind runs the day to day things and is usually represented by the little voice that goes on and on (and on and on). From puberty it is the gatekeeper to the unconscious mind. It is easily confused and doesn't like it. It can only hold 5-9 things in it at any time, less when stressed.
The unconscious mind is the domain of our emotions, the organiser of all the things we aren’t aware of and where all our habits, instincts and perceptions are mantained. The unbelievably powerful yet simple boss of the whole operation. It can do great things if we know how to ask it but can also do negative things when we unknowingly tell it to.
The Mind doesn’t know the difference between what's real and what's imagined!
The higher conscious mind gives us the ability to connect with others; things greater than us. It operates when you think of someone on the other side of the world and they phone you. Or when you believe you know something - you don’t know how you know, you just know (a firm grasp of reality is needed with this one).
The mind doesn’t really bother itself about how you interpret your feelings - it just responds to your instructions.
So – how can hypnotherapy and NLP help you?
Well.....
Do you ever wish you could stop doing certain things or just give something up?
Do you ever wish you could stop being scared of something?
Do you ever wish you could be more self-confident?
Big and little things happen to us or are said to us throughout our lives that can have a lasting effect on how we operate. Our parents and teachers had/have little idea that we could give some harmless remark the most powerful meaning and develop a program of self-defeating behaviour because of it.
Conversational hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) are subtle yet profound treatments that deal with issues by talking directly to the unconscious mind using a language it understands.
There is no danger and it is a natural conscious state.
There are real benefits in NLP and Hypnotherapy. This is why the best sportsmen, businessman and politicians use them.
These are proven techniques and their success is well documented. Just ask Bill Clinton and Andre Agassi (if you ever get the chance - but you know what I mean).
